Hosting its First National Online Summit to Inspire Change in the Hmong Community
The Hmong Impact Giving Network (HIGN), fiscally sponsored by Social Good Fund, is a national intermediary and philanthropic organization that strives to build the leadership of Hmong nonprofit leaders and a new generation of Hmong philanthropists to create a racial and social justice movement in the Hmong community by addressing and funding those social issues that impact Hmong families nationally such as mental health, gender equality, arts/Hmong culture preservation, issues faced by Hmong men/boys, Hmong GLBTQ, Hmong disability and anti-Asian/anti-blackness.
To fulfil its mission in uniting and building a community of Hmong philanthropists to invest together in their communities, the Hmong Impact Giving Network will host its first national summit event that will take place virtually on Saturday, January 8th, 2022. The theme of this year’s summit is Turn Unity Into Action and will convene diverse Hmong stakeholders and partners from across the country in the nonprofit, government, private and philanthropy sectors to learn, connect, and work together to build a more vibrant and healthy future for our Hmong communities in the US.

“Smaller AAPI communities like the Hmong community are often left behind when it comes to mainstream philanthropic dollars being given to support racial and social justice movements. Our social issues are as important as those of other communities and deserve funding to sustain the fight against structural racism and anti-Asian sentiments but also help us address some major issues in our Hmong community so that we can build thriving and vibrant Hmong communities across the US. The Hmong Impact Giving Network was established to provide capacity building and funding for Hmong nonprofits and community leaders to be successful in tackling these issues. We hope that others who also embrace a culture of giving and want to rise together to make a difference will join us in this effort at the summit.”
- Cynthia Yongvang, HIGN Co-founder and Chair.
HIGN’s 2022 Summit will feature Hali Lee as the keynote speaker and a lineup of panel speakers who will share their insights about Hmong community issues and about collective and inclusive philanthropy in Hmong and AAPI communities. The summit will offer several workshop tracks for Hmong small businesses, Hmong professionals and Hmong nonprofit and community leaders. At the summit, attendees would also have the opportunity to learn about HIGN grantees, their organizations and projects.
"We have more Hmong millionaires and six-figure earners than ever before! It's time for us to come together and invest in our own community by leveraging each other’s strengths and resources. If we don't, then who will? Let's leverage and work together to build a better future for our community.”
- Elizabeth Yang, HIGN Executive Committee Member
The Hmong Impact Giving Network has a fundraising goal of $50,000 to support the summit but also HIGN grantmaking in 2022 by making grants available to small Hmong nonprofit organizations and grassroot groups.
